Tea Hive

Construction lumber, fabricated steel and bee boxes

Tea Hive is an intimate gathering space designed for the HMR Pollinator Project in the St. Croix River Valley. Built to resemble a traditional pergola with the mission of the Pollinator Project in mind, this structure is informed by the architecture of ceremonial tea spaces around the globe and the shape of the combs built by bees to store pollen and honey.

This commission is part of an initiative led by the HMR Foundation and the University of Minnesota’s Bee Lab.
