Searching for Hallowed Ground

Cedar posts CNC carved from digital 3D scan

This 2′ x 5′ x 4″ sculpture captures the texture of the ground I stood at 1:12 p.m. on January 8, 2016, in Byers, CO. Byers is a town on the High Plains that has declined in population and industry progressively since the 1970s.

(mockup/sketch for a project to explore how our relations, beliefs, presence/absence, and memory affect physical space, and, the way we get a sense of a place…the there there)
